Evens Olibrice Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Russell & Pica Funeral Home - Brockton on Dec. 19, 2025.
Evens Letoy Olibrice was born on April 23, 1942, in the small community of Narang, north of the city of Hinche, Haiti, to Stanic Olibrice and Elira Elvinor Olibrice. He peacefully entered eternal rest on December 13, 2025, after a life marked by faith,
service, and perseverance.
A devoted servant of God, Evens answered the call to ministry early in life. In July 1977, he founded Waney Baptist Church in Haiti, a work that reflected his deep love for the Word of God and his commitment to preaching the Gospel. He pursued theological education with diligence, attending Ozark Bible College and Southwest Baptist University, and later graduating with a Bachelor's degree from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas.
Evens also worked with World Vision in Haiti and served as a preacher, educator, and mentor to many. He was especially proud of the sacrifices he made after leaving Haiti to work in the United States, taking on various jobs to support his family while pursuing his education. Ultimately, he chose obedience to God's calling over personal comfort,
returning to Haiti to plant and shepherd a church.
He is survived by his beloved children: Evans Schiller Olibrice and his wife, Sally; Evener El-Shadai Olibrice; Betty Eva Olibrice; and Berlyn Evie Joseph (née Olibrice) and her husband, Timothy E. Joseph. Evens is also survived by his three grandchildren, Dietrich, Julian, and Lyle Olibrice. He leaves behind his cherished brother, Jacques Olibrice; his sister, Ermanise Olibrice; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and close family, including Abraham Brizard, his wife, Marlene, and their family, as well as the Toussaint, Ravix, Etienne, Pressoir, and Joseph families. He is further survived by many relatives and friends across the United States, Haiti, France and Canada, including dear friends from numerous churches in Missouri.
Following the early passing of his father, Evens became a father figure to his siblings, a role he carried with humility and responsibility. He will be remembered as a man of principle, generous, quietly humorous and deeply devoted to God's Word. His family remembers him as a humble man who earnestly strove to live out God's calling on his life.
Visitation will be held at Trinity Community Church at 234 Walpole St. Norwood, MA 02062 on Saturday, December 27th from 8am-9am.
Funeral Services will follow immediately after, with interment at Highland Cemetery located at 320 Winter St. Norwood, MA 02062

From my infancy until the day I left Haiti, Eglise Baptiste de Waney was a defining part of my life. It was far more than just a church I attended because of my mother; it was an environment that Pasteur Evens built which intentionally exposed our generation to public speaking and competitive strategy.

The culture there, driven by dedicated leaders and members, provided a unique training ground. I still remember the intensity of competing for first place in Sunday morning school and the structure of AJEBAWA, where we were divided into groups to compete in entertaining and spreading the gospel.

These experiences, along with performing on Radio Lumiere with the choir "Coeur des anges," provided a foundation of confidence that I carry with me today. That early preparation, combined with my family values and education, has been a major factor in my performance at an Ivy Plus level because every challenge and competition felt familiar.

Thanks to Pasteur Evens Olibrice, Eglise Baptiste de Waney will forever be among my best memories. On behalf of my mother and brothers, I offer my most sincere condolences to his family.
