Everett Dean Farrand of Fort Supply was born January 9, 1949 to Orville Franklin Farrand and Dora Marie Thomas Farrand in Mooreland, Oklahoma. Everett passed away on November 14, 2025 in Oklahoma City at the age of 76. He went to school at Quinlan, Oklahoma before the family moved to Fairview, Oklahoma. He joined the United States Army in 1966, serving in Vietnam for one and half years. When he came home in October of 1968 Everett went to the Curve Café in Cleo Springs, Ok and met the Love of his life Linda McCray. He proposed while on leave, then promptly went to Fort Lewis, Washington. He came back to Oklahoma in May of 1969 for a short leave and married Linda on May 9,, 1969. To this union four children were born: Carla, Ronald, Tonya, and Heather. After leaving the Army it took a while for Everett to figure out the best job for him. He worked at a full-service gas station and at Sequoyah Spinning Mills before taking advantage of the GI Bill. At which time he went to work for his brother-in-law George Hammans learning the ins and outs of laying brick, rock, block, stone, etc. It was hard work and Everett was a hard worker. He started working for George in 1974, later going on his own and continuing to do masonry work. Everett met and made many friends in his line of work. The work took him all over Northwest Oklahoma, Southwest Kansas and the Texas Panhandle. His health forced him to retire in 2018. His son Ronald picked up the work his Dad had left to do and did those jobs right along with his own jobs. When his Dad was able, Ronald would take him to his jobs or come by and discuss different jobs with him.
When Everett started going to the VA in Oklahoma City he was skeptical because of stories he had heard over the years. It didn't take long until he realized those were just stories. He got to know many of the doctors, nurses and lab techs by name. Through the years they took very good care of him. Not to mention all the veterans he met and talked to along with the volunteers. It didn't take the volunteers long to learn he loved to read westerns. If he was there when the books were put out for the veterans, he would always look and see if there were any good westerns and grab some to take home and read. Most of these books were donated back to the volunteer department for the veterans. He was there so much at times it felt like his home away from home.
Everett is survived by his wife Linda, his daughters Carla Stuart and husband Jack of Rifle, Colorado, Heather Voss and her husband Joe of Oklahoma City, and his Son Ronald of
Woodward, Ok. His grandchildren, Nicole and husband Steven Negrete, Aaron and wife Cassie Stapleton, Jocelyn Fraire, Zoey Voss, Abigail Voss and Mackenzie Voss. And by great grandchildren Mariah Negrete and Mallory Negrete. His brother Donald Eugene Farrand and wife Gail and by his sister Carol Guffey. Many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Everett was preceded in death by his parents Orville and Dora Marie Farrand, his daughter Tonya Lynette Farrand, his brothers Archie and his wife Shirley Farrand and John Farrand, his sister Mary Jane and husband George Hammans, and brother-in-law Jerry Guffey. By nephews Butch Farrand, Ray Farrand and Artie Farrand.
