Everett Leon Lyman

Everett Leon "Sunny" Lyman, 71 of Arkansas City died Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Welsey Medical Center in Wichita. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Arkansas City. Pastor David Stanley will officiate. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Sunny was born March 14, 1939 to Alonzo Lyman and Sarah Ellen (Bay) in Perry, OK. He attended schools in Blackwell and South Haven. He served in the United States Army. On December 17, 1961 he married LaVerne Sue Atchison in Miami, OK. The couple made their home in Arkansas City during their 49 years of marriage. Sunny was a self employed welder before working at General Electric for 20 years until retiring in March 2004. He was a member of the First Baptist church in Arkansas City, Walnut Valley Carvers, and the Wheeler Dealer RV Club. Sunny is survived by his wife, LaVerne Lyman of the home; daughter, Sarelle Hopper of Wichita; sons,. Lonnie Lyman of Ft. worth, TX and Bradford Lyman and wife, Charmi of Arkansas City; brother, Lee Lyman of Florida; sister, Mary Beach of Stillwater, OK; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Terry Lyman. A memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
