Everett Leo Sowers, 99, of Motley, passed away on August 15, 2024. Funeral services will take place at 12pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Motley on Friday, August 23, 2024. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at a later date at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Everett was born on April 22, 1925, to Harold and Myrtle (Chumley) Sowers, in Cass County. He grew up on the farm, working hard and helping out wherever he could. Everett later enlisted in the Army where he proudly served his country. When he returned to Minnesota, Everett met and married Betty Monk. They had four children and were married for over 33 years before Betty passed away in 1983. Everett worked as a Truck Driver for Mobil Oil for many years, but in his free time he always found time to spend with family. Whether he would sit down to play the fiddle and sing in the evening, or just sit and have a family meal he always made time. Everett enjoyed music and knew how to play many instruments, he was easy-going, and he was the only one who could perfectly drive and park any vehicle. Later in life, Everett met Lois Bense, and they spent a lot of happy times together. Lois grew to be a very special part of Everett's life and his family's life. He was a long-time member of St. john's Lutheran Church. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him throughout his 99 years.
Everett is survived by his daughters Connie Longworth, Katherine Finn, and Deborah (Mark) Gavett; grandchildren Brian Pringle, Brent (Alissa) Pringle, Michelle Pringle, Aaron (Kala) Sowers, Andrew (April) Sowers, Dean (Samantha) Sowers, Lakeisha (Jaden Kertzmann) Sowers, Betsy (Elijah) Sarbaum; Steven (Angel) Gavett, Scott (Kristin) Gavett, and Shawn (Molly) Gavett; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; siblings Eldora Mae Monk and Norma Jean Pietz; sisters-in-law; Flossie Sowers, Deb Sowers and many nieces and nephews.
