Everett was a hardworking man, who found joy in life's simple pleasures. If you ever stopped at his house, you probably saw him sneaking in a quick nap, out in his garage, mowing his lawn, or building a Clampett style fence with tobacco sticks and lacing cord to unsuccessfully keep the deer out of his garden. Everett retired from Ford Motor company in 1988, the garage was his happy place, where he brought old Fords and antique cars back to life, rebuilding them with passion and pride. If you saw him in town, you probably heard an Old Hank Sr. song drifting from the speakers of his car as he headed to visit Billy Duncan at Billy's garage.
He loved road trips, where he could stop and admire antique cars sitting solo on the side of the road. No matter how beaten down, rusted or worthless they seemed to everyone else, he found the beauty beyond the dust. His passion for antique cars wasn't just a hobby, it was a way of life.
Most of all Everett loved his family, he showed it, not with fancy words, but with actions, We'll miss his laugh, stories, his music, the blaring of the news, his words of wisdom, the sound of him working in the garage and even his nagging when things were a little out of sorts. But in every Hank Sr song, every Ford that rumbles by, every car show we pass and every trip we take, we will remember him in all the little things, that made him who he was.
