Ezekiel Taylor, Jr., a devoted family man and esteemed veteran, passed away on October 29, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on August 13, 1954, Ezekiel lived a life filled with purpose, having dedicated 26 years to serving in the United States Air Force, where he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. His military career took him on two tours in Japan, one in Guam, and deployments in Korea, Turkey, the Philippines, California, and Louisiana, during which he exemplified duty and commitment.

Ezekiel was a proud graduate of Greenville High School, completing his education in 1973 before embarking on his distinguished career in the military. Beyond his professional life, Ezekiel was known for his headstrong personality and his infectious, one-of-a-kind laugh that brought joy to those around him. He embraced life fully, often enjoying walks every other day, reveling in the warmth of the sun upon his skin. His sense of humor shone through in the dad jokes he loved to share, which, while not always the funniest, reflected the warmth and lightheartedness he brought to his family.

A passionate reader, Ezekiel shared his love of books with his daughter. He had a love for soul food, particularly rice and gravy. Music was another of his great passions, with a particular fondness for rap and country genres. Fishing, a beloved pastime he shared with his father since childhood, was another great joy; given the chance, he would fish every single day.

Ezekiel's proudest accomplishment was his role as a loving husband and father. He was married to his best friend and the love of his life, Ella Taylor, for 48 wonderful years, although they shared a loving bond for a total of 52 years. Together, they raised three children: Ezekiel Taylor III, Firshelia Taylor, and Therina Taylor. His devotion to his family was profound, and he was known to be both protective and nurturing.

Ezekiel is survived by his wife, Ella Taylor; his children, Ezekiel Taylor III, Firshelia Taylor, and Therina Taylor; and his siblings, Louise Gebremedhin, Rose Hardmen, Darlene Taylor, Cathy Taylor, Shonda Taylor, Larry Taylor, Robert Taylor, Michael Taylor, David Taylor, and Richard Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ezekiel Taylor, Sr.; his mother, Ruthie Taylor; and sisters Delores Collum, Diane Taylor, and Irene Taylor.

Ezekiel’s legacy will live on through the love he shared with his family and the many lives he touched throughout his journey. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
