Fannie Lou Elrod, affectionately known as "Toni," who departed this life on January 26, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on August 20, 1933, in Lithonia, Georgia, Fannie was a lifelong resident of Decatur, where she nurtured countless relationships and made lasting memories in her beloved community.
Fannie dedicated much of her life to her family and her work, having served as a bookkeeper at Belk's Department Store before her retirement. She also volunteered her time with the Red Cross, embodying the spirit of generosity and compassion that characterized her life.
Fannie will be deeply missed by her son, Larry Elrod, and his wife, Cheryl Elrod of Stone Mountain, Georgia. She is also survived by ten cherished grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Fannie's loving spirit and dedication to her family have left a legacy that will continue through her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford A. Pilgrim, Sr. and Pearl F. Pilgrim, as well as her brothers Ralph, Robert, Frank, Walter, Claude, George, and Clifford A. Pilgrim, Jr., and sister Lonie Atkinson. She is also preceded in death by her sons, Robert Michael Elrod and George Jeffrey Elrod, and daughter, Susan R. Burroughs.
To honor Fannie's life and memory, a funeral service will be held on January 30, 2026, at 1:00 PM at AS Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memory Gardens at 2:00 PM.
Fannie Lou Elrod's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In this time of sorrow, let us come together to celebrate her beautiful life.
