Mr. El-Yussif was one of the most iconic teachers in South Lakes history. He was absolutely beloved by his students, myself included. Every quarter, he would celebrate the "Champions of A´s," those who were doing well in his course. "Luke," he would say, "You are a champion!" [Me going by Luke in his class is another story.] Needless to say, we all knew he loved to teach and that he loved his students. He was truly one of the greats - so many memorable stories! All of us who had him as a teacher were the lucky ones. Rest in peace Mr. El-Yussif. You made a difference!

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember your father as I kind, interesting man. My husband & your Dad connected immediately after meeting, having similar interests.
Again, my condolences to your family.

I was just one of many Students lucky enough to have had Dr. El-Yussif as my HS physics teacher. He is remembered well.

Dr. El Yusiff was one of my more memorable teachers at South Lakes HS. He taught me during a time that I was less than a stellar student, but always remained patient and good humored with me. One morning when I was going through some personal troubles, he opened up about his past and showed true compassion towards me. I will never forget his kindness. I am fortunate to have known him.

Dr. El Yussif was a tremendous positive influence on me as well. He was a great teacher, and a role model. I like to think he would be pleased to know I'm teaching science too, now. And I hope his family can appreciate that he has left a lasting legacy of love for science education.

Dr. El-Yussif was my high school physics teacher. I remember him fondly as a kind-hearted and patient soul who brought a smile to all his students which isn´t always easy to do in a physics class. He went out of his way to recognize the positive qualities of each of his students. I am now a middle school teacher and I believe his kindness and example has been a strong influence in how I interact with my students. Sending prayers for his family.

Mr. El-Yussif was my Physics teacher in 1988/1989 - I fondly remember him as one of the nicest teachers I ever had. Such a gentle nature. He came to our 10 year reunion too and all the students were so excited to see him. It sounds like he led a very full life before and since then, which makes me very happy. My condolences to the family, he was a wonderful human!

I'm so sad by Dr. El's passing! What a compassionate soul! He genuinely took interest in all of his students. Every time I visited his class he knew where I sat and could name all the kids that sat around me. He recalled my HS boyfriend years later at the reunion and asked where he was. LOL. He was the teacher that loved what he did. Anxious for us to arrive he waited in the hall with a big smile and spoke with everyone as they walked by. I always thought it was a shame that he was tucked away in a corner classroom so that only seniors could really enjoy the sunshine he brought every day. Rest in peace, Dr. El. The world was a better place with you in it. Sarah (class of '89)
