Fawaz Assed Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Broecker Funeral Home on Feb. 6, 2026.
Fawaz Fadal Assed, 94, passed away peacefully at his home in Killeen, Texas, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Fawaz was born on October 16, 1931, in Smackover, Arkansas, to Fadal Assed and Sadeka Abdaldeen. At the age of 17, he moved to Killeen, Texas, where he built a life defined by entrepreneurship, devotion to family, and a deep commitment to uplifting those around him. On October 17, 1964, he married the love of his life, Amira Abufadel. Together, they built a home and family in Killeen, sharing 61 years of marriage rooted in love and partnership. Fawaz's legacy is woven into the fabric of Killeen itself. Through the many businesses he founded and the genuine care he showed to those around him, he helped shape the town in lasting ways. A respected community leader and proud member of the Kiwanis Club, Fawaz was deeply committed to civic life. His businesses were more than places of work, they were gathering places that created livelihoods and continuity for generations of residents. Above all, Fawaz will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unmistakable sense of humor. He was always ready to lend a hand, often without being asked. Whether through a story, a perfectly timed joke, or simply the warmth he brought into a room, Fawaz had a rare gift for making people feel welcome and valued. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Amira Assed; his children Lisa Rima Assed, Richard M. Assed and his wife Kenda Assed, Angela S. Assed and her husband Khaled Sharaf, Raymond R. Assed and his wife Lina Assed, and Ronny R. Assed and his wife Reem Assed; his brother Frank Assed; his sisters Rasmieh Assed and Ramzeia Assed; and his 14 beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Fayez Smien, Hussein (Charley) Smien, Faraj Assed, and Fouzi Assed. A public service to honor Fawaz's life will be held on Monday, February 9, at 1:00 p.m. at Broecker Funeral Home in Salado for visitation, followed by a private burial. May his memory be a blessing.
