Smithfield – Alice Faye Whitley Rose, age 83, passed away Saturday October 18, 2025 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. She was born in Johnston County on November 3, 1941 to the late William Earl Whitley and Hazel Phillips Whitley. In addition to her father and mother, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William "Bill" Ray Rose; sisters, Barbara Woodard and Teresa Strickland.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday October 21, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Yelverton Grove OFWB Church cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the cemetery just prior to the service.

She is survived by her daughter, Rae Rose Barbour and husband Barry of Four Oaks; son, Chris Rose of Rocky mount; grandchildren, Ashley Rose Mitchell and husband James, Lee Rose and wife Nicole, and Kaitlyn Barbour; great grandchildren, Kaylee, Anna, Leia and Everlee; brother-in-law, Harold Woodard.

Faye retired with 33 wonderful years as the cafeteria manager for Princeton School, in which 15 years of that she travelled for the Annual American School Food Service Convention.

She loved to travel with her husband, especially to the beach. She enjoyed reading and could always be found at her sewing machine. She will be dearly missed by her family, especially her grandchildren whom she never missed a sporting event or dance recital they were a part of.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to those who took great care of her, Cherylene, Bertha, Edith and the wonderful staff at Liberty Commons.
