Federico Caicedo Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 13, 2024.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Federico Caicedo, a beloved husband, father, and brother, who left us on August 3, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on August 18, 1937, in Cartagena, Colombia, Federico lived a life full of love, dedication, and kindness.
Federico was born into a poor household in Cartagena, but that didn't stop him from aspiring to lift himself out of poverty. With remarkable perseverance, he taught himself English while working as a caddie at the local golf club in Cartagena. His passion for learning extended to electronics, a skill he not only mastered but also generously shared with others.
Though he was not wealthy in material possessions, Federico died rich in all the qualities that truly matter. His richness was found in his character-his kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to helping others. He retired after a long and fulfilling career at Hoffman-La Roche, where his dedication and work ethic left a lasting impression.
My own love for all things technical began by watching him work-holding a flashlight for him while he repaired electronic parts or worked on his car. Those were simple lessons from simpler times, but they laid the foundation for so much of who I am today. I owe so much to my dad; I will never forget his generosity and his willingness to put others above himself. Dad, you were a good man. May the Lord take you in His arms and give you the rest you so desire and deserve. We will always miss you.
Federico is survived by his devoted wife, Adelyada Caicedo, his son, Fred Caicedo, and his daughter, Zobeyda Schilling. He was also the cherished brother of Efrain Caicedo.
