Felix Wallace Manion, 81, of Baird, TX, passed from this earth on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Hendrick Hospice Care following a brief illness, surrounded by family and close friends.
Felix was born on March 10, 1944, in Callahan County to the late Lucibell Mitchell Manion and Aubrey Arch "A.A." Manion. He graduated from Baird High School in 1962. Shortly after, he joined the U.S. Army and served his country for two years, stationed in Germany during that time. He was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Baird, where he served as a deacon for many years.
Felix worked as an insurance agent for many years and was also a respected real estate agent for A.E. "Butch" Nelson for over 30 years, continuing to work for him up until the time of his passing. In addition to his professional life, Felix generously gave his time and talents to numerous community efforts. He served on many boards and was especially known for his cooking expertise. For more than 20 years, he cooked brisket for the Hendrick Miracle Network Chuck Wagon Lunch, an event he truly enjoyed - making many friends along the way.
Felix was a devoted member of the Belle Plains Cemetery Association for over 40 years. Through his service as a board member, and in recent years as the association's president, numerous improvements were made to the cemetery. He faithfully attended nearly every burial held there. He was also one of the original sponsors of the annual "Neighborhood Night" held in the cemetery each Halloween, an event celebrating Callahan County's history with fellowship and food shared among family and friends.
His culinary talents were legendary at local events and even appreciated on a national level.
Felix is survived by his loving wife, Paula Corn Manion, who was his devoted partner in life and his greatest source of strength, joy, and unwavering support. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them. He is also survived by his son, Russell Manion; daughter, Missy Green (Bobby); and Tommy Joe Higgins Jr. He is further survived by a special nephew, Rodney Ivy (Debbie) of Coleman, TX, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins - too many to name, but all dearly loved.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Mo and Regina Gonzales, Lori Higgins, Lori Morrison and Russell Hargrove for their help and friendship during this time. We couldn't have made it without you.
