Felix Antonio Velazquez

In Loving Memory of Felix "Pibe" Velazquez.
He was a resident of Largo, Florida, and passed away on October 16, 2025.
Pibe was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico on 11/11/1937.
His parents were Felix Velazquez Lerdo and Carmen Marcano, and he has one sister, Carmina Roque.
Felix was married for 50 years to Nydia Hernandez, and leaves behind two children, Felix E. Velazquez and Jessica Sohmer. He has two grandchildren, Brianna Velazquez (daughter of Felix and Lisa Velazquez) and Ryan Sohmer (son of Jessica and Daniel Sohmer).
Felix retired from the Social Security Department where he worked as an Administrator. Prior to this he worked in several other fields, including as owner and manager of a gasoline and auto service station, and as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Park Davis and Abbott.
Pibe was a veteran of the United States Air Force and the Puerto Rico Air National Guard.
Pibe was a member for 70 years of the Phi Eta Mu Fraternity in the Puerto Rico and Orlando chapters. He held many positions in the Fraternity over the years, including Secretary and Treasurer of the Supreme Council. He was also a member of the Brandon Rotary Club.
Pibe's joy in life came from spending time with his many friends and fraternity brothers. He was always the brightest light in any room he walked into, and people naturally gravitated to him to hear all his stories and jokes. He will be fondly remembered by the many people he encountered throughout his life, as he always brought joy and laughter to those with whom he spent time.
Pibe also enjoyed traveling with his family and friends, visiting countries all over the world, learning about other cultures, and particularly enjoying the local food offerings. His love of travel came from his parents who also had traveled all over the world.
Pibe was an avid reader, specifically of spy novels like those of John Le Carre and Tom Clancy. He loved going to the Opera and listening to live music.
Pibe will be dearly missed by his family and friends, but we take comfort in knowing that he lived a full and joyous life.
