Felton Leroy Thompkins, born on February 11, 1965, to Ambra (Thompkins) Jackson, in Texas, passed away on June 3, 2025, in Hampton, Virginia, at the age of 60. Felton's journey through life was marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his passions. He joined Greater Union Baptist Church in Compton, California, where he committed his life to God and found solace in his faith.
After graduating from Dominguez High School in Compton, California, Felton answered the call to serve his nation. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Material Control and Accounting Specialist, where he contributed to ensuring operational efficiency and readiness. Following his honorable service, he embarked on a career as a truck driver with Swift Transportation, where he became known for his reliability and strong work ethic.
Throughout his life, Felton found joy and fulfillment in various pursuits. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler, enjoying the camaraderie and competition of the lanes. While residing in Washington state, he dedicated his time to coaching junior league football and basketball, sharing his love for sports and imparting valuable life lessons to young athletes.
Felton is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Tunga Michelle Thompkins. He leaves behind a loving family, including his mother, Ambra Jackson and step-father Pastor Kenneth Jackson; sister, Melva Wynette Terrell and her husband Abraham; his children, Ka'Cye Thompkins, Malaiya Williams, Myeisha Garrison and her husband Peter, Emmanuel Josiah Thompkins, and Elijah Thompkins; and his aunt, Loletha Anderson of Ralls, Texas. He is also survived by his best friend, William Booker, and many grandchildren, cousins, nephews, and friends who cherished his presence in their lives.
A memorial service will be held in Texas at a later date to celebrate and honor Felton's life. The family extends heartfelt gratitude for the prayers, condolences, and support extended during this difficult time.
