Fermin Moreno Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Healey Mortuary and Crematory on Mar. 13, 2026.
Fermin Porraz Moreno Jr., 75, finished his race on earth on March 5, 2026, at home, surrounded by the comfort of family. He was born on August 30, 1950, in Bakersfield and later moved with his family to Salinas, where he enjoyed the rest of his life.

Fermin attended Alisal High School and was proud to be part of its first graduating class of 1969. He was a sportsman, which included track and field, cross-country, wrestling, and pole vaulting. He was also a member of the marching band.

Immediately after high school, Fermin enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country as a Lance Corporal (E3) with the MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) of 0311, a rifleman. During the Vietnam War, he served in reconnaissance and as a marksman, carrying out difficult and dangerous missions with courage and skill. Fermin was very proud of serving alongside his fellow Marines.

After serving in the Marine Corps, Fermin worked as a packaging line supervisor at Spreckels Sugar Company and later as a splicer for AT&T.

Fermin met Glenda, the love of his life, on December 10, 1989, and they married three years later in 1993. She was his treasure from day one. Fermin and Glenda loved taking road trips in their motorhome, bowling and fishing together, betting on horse races, and sharing constant banter. They cherished their tradition of going to San Francisco, Cambria, and Maui on their anniversaries and built a life together full of laughter, adventure, and deep love.

He was known by family and friends for his extraordinary generosity and his deep belief in taking care of one another. He was the greatest brother and protector of his family growing up, and later extended that devotion to the family he built. He cared for each and every member of his family and never backed down from a challenge. He stood in front of all of us and said, "You'll have to get through me first." We were always safe with him.

Fermin loved California, especially the ocean. He would travel anywhere to spend time with his daughters and their families, attending milestone moments and taking every opportunity to be together. They never doubted how deeply he loved them or how proud he was of each of them. With every grandchild born, he would proudly say, "He or she looks just like me." No one cheered louder for his family than Fermin. He was also a passionate fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Las Vegas Raiders. He loved riding his Harleys and driving his Mustang GT 5.0. Fermin also had an enormous hat collection representing teams, organizations, colleges, and people he cared about, and he was rarely without his denim jacket or signature brown leather coat.

Fermin was a proud member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7895, American Legion Post 31, and Elks Lodge 614.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Glenda, and his daughters Andrea Triano (Marco), Julie Feely (Scott), Jenny Trask (Josh), and his dog, Lady. He was a proud grandfather to Emily, Gabriella, Sophia, Claire, Karli, Nathan, Avery, Luciana, Noelle, Joel, Mateo, Aly, and Blake, each of whom brought him immense joy.

He is also survived by his siblings Elsa Sandoval (Joe), Jose Luis Moreno (Susie), Carol Busane Morgan (Michael), Nick Busane, Anna Busane Stout, John Moreno, Yvette de la Rosa (Mario), Laura Moreno, Miguel Moreno (Bee Moreno), Anthony Moreno (Gina), and step-mother Victoria Navarro Moreno, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends Raul Rede and David Yvarra.

Fermin was preceded in death by his parents, Fermin P. Moreno Sr. and Irma C. Moreno, and his brother Frank "Rocky" Busane.

Fermin will be remembered for his strength, pride, integrity, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family. We will find him everywhere and reflect his life and love back into the world for as long as we live. His legacy will live on through everyone fortunate enough to have known and loved him.

As he always said to us, "Take it easy." We will see you again, Fermin. Love you forever.
