Fernando Damiani Obituary

Published by Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home on May 7, 2013.
Fernando Damiani was born on March 3rd 1945 in Morro d'Oro Italy. He passed on May 7th 2013 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital after his battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Fernando (Gabe) was a resident of Alexandria Virginia for 43 years. He is survived by his wife Sharon, his two sons Andrew (Jennifer wife) Gabriele (Nelofur wife) and three granddaughters Nyla, Zara, and Madison. Siblings include his brothers Antonio Damiani, Remo Damiani, and his sister Guiseppina DeLauretis. Gabe had a passion and love for soccer and was very active in his community by coaching youth soccer for nearly three decades. He coached both of his sons' select soccer teams--the Jets and Rangers. Both teams started in the 5th Division and worked there way to Division 1. After coaching both of his sons' teams, he went on coaching various other teams leading them to Division 1 championships. Through his love for the game he touched and changed lives over the 30 years he coached. Gabe's professional career was always in one place--Tony's Auto Service. He worked with his brother to build a company that has been successful for over 40 years. His mechanical talent and work ethic was unsurpassed. He was loved by many customers and professionals in the automotive field. Last but certainly not least he had a love for his family. He worked sun up to sun down for over 40 years to provide for his family. He taught his sons the value of a hard day's work and what you can achieve if you work hard enough. His love and dedication to his wife was an example of true devotion and the principles of marriage. His memory will live on through all of us.
