Ferne I. Walker

Ferne was a hard working, easy going woman I met through marriage to her son. Although the marriage didn't work out, I always maintained communication with her through cards, letters and an occasional visit. The last visit we had was very good and she seemed to know me and I was able to share pictures of her son, Gordon, and our three children, Laura, Todd, and Joel and our grandchildren, Daniella, Grace, Travis and Danny. She was at peace that day in May of 2016. Not having a car that was reliable and being on a tight budget stopped me from visiting more often. We, Ferne and I, had an unexpected stay at the nursing home she was in when she passed in 2005 during a major snowstorm. I was the only one left at her house after her 89th birthday. What a time we had. I wrote 6 pages about it. Maybe it will be published some day. I will miss our correspondence. She will be greatly missed.
