Fleata Lavern Cook, beloved wife of William James Cook III, mother to Warren James Cook and William James Cook IV, and "Oma" to a beautiful grandson, Samuel Allen, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024 in Temple, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Floydada. Viewing will be held 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 27, 2024 at the Moore-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Floydada. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.
Fleata was born December 9, 1957 in Floydada, Texas. Graduated from Floydada High School. Married to a U.S. Army Service Member, she worked for the military as an Administrative Assistant for hiring. She transitioned into becoming a family housing assistant in the state of Georgia. Upon moving back to Texas, she worked in the Veterans Affairs office in Temple, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents; James and Lee King, and father, Clayton Black, and one brother, James King Jr.
Fleata is survived by four sisters; Beverly Collins, Nora Collins, Celeste Melton, Donna Estelle, two brothers; Terry King and Leonard King. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. Perhaps you sent a lovely card, sent a floral piece, maybe spoke the kindest words, as any friend could say. Perhaps you were not there at all, but you thought of us that day. Whatever you did to console our hearts, we thank you so much.

Ms Fleata will be missed by my entire family. My heart still longs to hear hear her voice. She was the definition of love. Rest in peace my dear friend. I will love you always and forever.

So sad to her about Fleata as she was a beautiful soul. When I met her over in Employee Health at the VA, she was so kind, helpful and just wonderful to work with always smiling and encouraging me. I will never forget her. May God comfort you all. Rest in Peace my friend.
