Fletcher Carter Obituary
Fletcher E. "Billy" Carter, 80, of Alamance County, North Carolina, passed away at Duke Hospital on August 27, 2025. Born on January 23, 1945, to Fletcher C. Carter and Kathleen Carter Lewis, Billy spent his life working hard, cherishing family, and creating lasting memories with those he loved.
Billy was survived by his wife of 62 years, Brenda Carter. He was a proud father of daughter, Deanna (Dee) Minter, husband Stacy and a doting grandfather to his grandsons, Carter and Camden Minter, of Selma, North Carolina. He is also survived by his brother, Jimmy Carter.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Fletcher C. Carter and Kathleen Carter, and his sister, Sandra C. Harmon.
Billy retired after 46 years of supervision in the textile industry. He served the City of Graham as an Auxiliary Police Officer for 14 years and was a member of The Blue Shield Boys Clubs.
His family was the center of his world, and he found great joy in spending time with his grandsons after his retirement. He enjoyed tinkering on antique cars, attending car shows, NASCAR and drag racing. He was a big fan of Ronnie Sox.
Billy was of the Baptist faith. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his strong work ethic, and the love he showed for his family. His commitment to his work and his family was unwavering, and he took pride in everything he did. A man of quiet strength and deep devotion, his presence will be missed, but his legacy will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Prior to the memorial service, visitation will begin at 11:30am on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham. Immediately following the memorial service, will be a graveside ceremony at Linwood Cemetery, Graham.
Billy's family would like to extend their deepest thanks to all those who have offered their support during this time of loss. He was loved dearly and will never be forgotten.
