Flora Ann James, born on January 29, 1940, in Batesville, Arkansas, passed away on September 7, 2025, at the age of 85.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Myrtle Garrison, and her brother, Melvin Garrison. Flora is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, John James, their daughter Kim (David), son Robert (Tracy), seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and her beloved chihuahua, Daisy.
Flora graduated from Miami High School in 1958. She graduated from beauty school in 1959. Then she met the love of her life, John James, in August of 1959. Their love blossomed, leading to their marriage on February 6, 1960, at Lower Miami Baptist Church. Together, they celebrated an incredible 65 years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support.
Flora was a dedicated employee in the Miami school district, she also imparted her passion for beauty as a former beauty school instructor. Known affectionately as "The Cake Lady," she delighted family and friends with her exceptional baking, particularly her famous Red Velvet cake and peach cobbler and enjoyed making tacos at the Elks Lodge.
A funeral service will be held on October 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Globe-Miami Elks Lodge in Globe, AZ, with a luncheon immediately following.
