Flora Rice Obituary
Flora was born March 16, 1941, in Pittsburg, KS, to the late Leo Charles and Mary "Tootsie" (Murry) Shields. She attended school and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School with the class of 1959.
On May 9, 1964, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, in Pittsburg, KS, she married Thomas Franklin Rice. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2018.
While in Sedalia, Flora attended the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Chapel.
She is survived by her sons Darren Rice of Sedalia and Kevin Rice of Overland Park, KS; three grandchildren Alexa, Alex and Jamie Rice; and brother Louis Shields of IA.
Flora loved her Family very much. She always thought of others before herself. She especially enjoyed the Holidays and giving gifts to others.
She had a unique talent of home decorating and arranging flowers.
She was loved and will be missed.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2021 at Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS, with Fr. Jerome Spexarth officiating. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society. Memorials may be left at or mailed to McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, 519 S. Ohio St., Sedalia, MO 65301.

I went to school with Flora from kindergarten through high school and graduation. We lived a block from each other and often walked to school together . I honestly cannot a time that she ever said a negative word about anyone. I enjoyed visiting with her at our 50 th class reunion. She hadn’t changed a bit. You have my heartfelt sympathy . May she Rest In Peace .
