Flora was a vibrant spirit who found harmony in music, family, and friendship. She passed away on March 20 after a brave battle with pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer at the age of 38.
Flora is survived by her devoted life partner John Michael Chittick and their cherished daughter, Opal Chittick, both of Bakersfield, Vermont. She also leaves behind her parents, David and Lois Whitmore, both of Essex, Vermont, loving brother Luke Whitmore, his wife, Judith Sone, and their daughter, Talya Whitmore, of Madison, Wisconsin.
Music was the heartbeat of Flora's life. An accomplished musician, she shared her talent with joy and passion, filling the world with the beauty of her melodies. She found solace and strength in the company of her dear friends, and family, who stood by her side with unwavering support throughout her battle with cancer.
Flora's love for playing and singing both with her friends, at home, and in her work, was a testament to the power of music to connect and uplift the soul. Together, they created a symphony of friendship, weaving memories, and laughter into those she connected with.
In honoring Flora's memory, her family invites all who knew her to gather in celebration of her life, sharing stories and songs that capture the essence of her spirit. Let her music continue to resonate in your hearts, a reminder of the joy and connection she brought to the world.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, Vermont, in appreciation of their compassionate care during Flora's final days.
A celebration of Flora's life will be held later in June. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her music and friendship will echo in our lives forever, a melody of love and remembrance.
