Florence Anthony Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. - Allentown on Mar. 16, 2026.
Florence M. Anthony January 31, 1929 - March 12, 2026

Florence "Flossy" Anthony passed away peacefully at 97 on March 12, 2026, surrounded by those she loved.

Together with her husband, Donald, she raised two children who adored her and she never retired from the job of Mom. After the passing of her older Morrissey siblings, she became the matriarch of the family with nieces and nephews like children to her.

Flossy was a devout Catholic who dutifully raised her children in the Faith and she was in equal measure a patriotic American. A story that delighted so many is during WWII, as a teenaged girl, she sold war bonds door-to-door for the war effort. In her 20s, though not a military wife, she was a military fiancée who ran her betrothed's trucking company while he served in an artillery unit in the Korean War until they married shortly after his return from combat.

In the following years and into her 80s, she loved her job as a bookkeeper for a family business owned by her niece and nephews. She couldn't imagine a life that didn't include getting dressed up, going into the office and spending the day with family.

She leaves behind her twin sister, Frances, daughter, Susan Trent (Frank), son, Jeffrey Anthony (Mary Ann), and many nieces and nephews.

It will not be the same world without her.

Viewing at 10:00 AM, service at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 19th, at the Cathedral Church of St. Catharine of Siena, 1825 W. Turner St., Allentown PA 18104. Arrangements entrusted to Heintzelman – Stephens Funeral Home, P. C.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the church or Serenity Hospice at (610) 281-4800.
