I'm from Las Vegas and visited New York for the first time a couple years ago. I was just going through my photos and decided to look up your name when I stumbled across it in a random picture I took of your memorial. I didn't know you Florence, but I found it very coincidental to find in your obituary that one of your favorite destinations was Las Vegas since I live there. I figured I would upload my picture in the hopes that it can be meaningful in some way for your loved ones.

Florence...Flo, I grant that God give you His Grace and that Joyce can find some Peace, knowing you are gone but never forgotten. I used to be a Trekking Pen Pal of both you and your daughter back in the sixties. Somehow we drifted apart, but I never forgot the brief moments we shared through our letters and our love of Star Trek, and the love we shared towards actors such as Jimmy Doohan and stage actors like Fritz Weaver. I regret we didn't stay in touch through the passing years, but know that you are well thought of, and that the tradgedy that occured on 9/11 will never erase the memory of you that I carry in my heart...

Dear Florence - From the time you and Joyce first appeared in my life,in 1984, at the Stage Door of the Plymouth Theatre where I was appearing in "The Real Thing", to May of 2001, when you came to "Passion Play" at the Minetta Lane, you gave me the warmest support in all my acting ventures. I was always thrilled to receive your birthday greetings - and true to tradition, my usual card arrived in July, a year ago. It was only through a redirected Christmas card sent on to your loving daughter Joyce that I finally heard this February that you had been caught in 2,WTC, on that black day in September. I had thought there was something wrong when I heard nothing from you at Christmas - but I little guessed that you had been in the heart of the tragedy. So now, on the anniversary of our last communication, I send you my love and respect, my prayers and my regrets, but I selfishly keep hold of my fond memories. The Times said you loved to go to the Theatre - almost an understatement. Quietly and unassumingly, you really supported it and those like me who were lucky enough to have found your favor. No show's run was complete if Florence, and often Joyce, hadn't been to see it. Your thoughtful little gifts were always a treat, and much appreciated, but your attendance and then your reassuring presence at the Stage Door afterward were what I really valued. Do you remember when Nancy and I bumped into you and Joyce at a performance of "Anthony and Cleopatra" at the Chichester Festival in England? What a happy chance that was. How I wish a happy chance had kept you from work on September 11th. Dear Florence, I'm so sorry you never had a chance to fulfil your dream of moving to Las Vegas when you'd finished with taxes, or to watch with pride as Joyce realizes her ideals working in Kentucky among people who need her help. From somewhere, somehow, though, you will, I'm sure, be watching. Whenever I spot an empty seat in the theatre, I'll imagine you there, keeping a loving eye on our activities. We'll certainly keep a loving place in our hearts for you. Rest in peace. With love, Simon.

May Florence's generosity, life and love continue living in those who love her. May the sorrow you feel be lightened by warm memories of times shared with Florence. Our hearts cry with you.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
