Florence Gadway

MOOERS FORKS - Mrs. Florence D. Gadway, 82, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026 at The Orchards of Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh with her loving family by her side. She was born September 22, 1943, in Hemmingford, Quebec, daughter of Florian and Lillian (Smith) Dauphinais.

Florence married Leonard Gadway of Mooers Forks on September 7, 1963 at Saint Roman Catholic Church in Hemmingford, Quebec. She was a devout Catholic who served as a member of the St. Ann's Sodality Society for over 50 years. Florence and Leonard were devoted members of St. Ann's Church where they both volunteered their services for many years. Florence was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend. She was an avid gardener and loved making meals to bring family and friends together.

In addition to her parents, Florian and Lillian Dauphinais; Florence was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Reay Ellerton of Hemmingford, Quebec; brothers-in-law, Edmond Priest of Hemmingford, Quebec; Gerard D'Amour of Ormstown, Quebec, and Robert Rabideau of Mooers Forks; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leo and Ruby Gadway, Sr. of Mooers Forks; stepmother-in-law, Gertrude (Trombley) Gadway of Plattsburgh; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leo and Margaret Gadway, Jr., Dennis and Shirley Gadway, all of Mooers Forks; brothers-in-law, Ronald LaValley of Mooers Forks and Hugh Miller of Norwood.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Leonard Gadway of 62 years, two children and their spouses, Susan Menard and husband Tom of Mooers Forks, Dale Gadway and wife Sara of West Chazy; two beloved grandchildren, Evan Gadway of West Chazy and Cody Gadway of Albany; four sisters, Madeleine Priest of Hemmingford, Quebec, Antoinette D'Amour of Ormstown, Quebec, Theresa Rabideau of Mooers Forks, Irene Dauphinais and friend Ron Meunier of St. Jean Sur-Richelieu, Quebec; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gerald and Marilyn Gadway of Mooers; sisters-in-law, Doris LaValley of Ogdensburg and Norma Miller of Rouses Point; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 from 9 to 10 AM at St. Ann's Church, Mooers Forks. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM with the Most Reverend Terry R. LaValley, Bishop of Ogdensburg, presiding.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to the nurses, doctors, and staff at Meadowbrook Healthcare for their exceptional heartfelt care given to Florence throughout her stay.
