Florence P. "Ness" Hammer

Florence P. Hammer, 90, of Badger, MN passed away at her home with family by her side on March 4, 2026. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau at 4:00 pm, with visitation one hour prior at the funeral home.

Florence was born in Newfolden, MN on August 2, 1935 to Alfred and Esther (Lane) Ness. Florence was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She grew up on a farm in Middle River, MN throughout her childhood. Florence graduated from Middle River High School in 1953. Florence met the love of her life at a middle river roller skating rink. She got married to Glen Hammer on November 25, 1953 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River, MN. They lived in Roseau, MN for awhile before purchasing the family farm from Glen's parents which they were very proud of. Together they worked hard together on the farm where they raised their four children. Florence was very proud of her children. Florence was a hard worker with being a mother, farming (milking cows/raising sheep and beef cattle, farmwork) and was a book-keeper secretary for Land of Lakes ag service until they closed, and she then transitioned to Land of Lakes Creamery until she retired.

Florence had many interests' including yardwork, gardening, being outdoors, watching gameshows, baking (made her delicious homemade bread and potato dumplings for many years), going to the casino, traveling (her and Glen went on many travel adventures which she loved seeing new places and meeting new people around the country) and being around her family/friends (numerous grandchildren/greatgrandchildren which she never got tired of playing with and being around them whenever she could). After retirement, Glen and Florence enjoyed spending their winters' in Bull Head City, Arizona until Glen's health deteriorated.

Florence is survived by her three children, Rodney (Julie) Hammer of Decatur, AL, Patty Hammer of Badger and Gary (Nancy) Hammer of Badger; 8 grandchildren: Shawn (Deborah) Hammer, Christopher Hammer, Amber ( Matt) Goodson, Ryan ( Micah) Hammer, Jason (Angela) Hammer, Kristi (Jerry) Moore, Samantha Hammer and Marrisa (Jordan) Jevne and 16 great-grandchildren, one brother Marvin Ness and many nieces and nephews.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband Glen, daughter Donna Kloosterboer, parents (Alfred and Esther), brother Ray Ness; sister-in law Carol Ness, Charlotte (Maynerd) Torgerson, Audrey Hammer, brother in laws Leslie Hammer, Percy Hammer, Clifford (Kathy) Hammer.
