Florence, daughter of Ingvald and Bernice (Julsrud) Haugtvedt, was born June 8.1931, in Wilkin County, Minnesota, and died August 13, 2024, at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND, surrounded by her family.
She attended country school, District 3, where she graduated from the eighth grade and graduated from Barnesville, MN, High School.
Florence married Julian Larson on June 12, 1954, at Solem Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN. They made their home in Moorhead and attended The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
She retired from Northwestern Bell after 25 years and later worked for Jack Evert Insurance Agency.
Florence was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and loyal friend. Growing up with seven siblings, she had many stories to share. When they got together and reminisced, laughter abounded. Friends Marilyn and Arlene, from grade school, stayed in touch and all met at the Cornfield Cafe in Dunvilla, MN, many times over the years. She talked daily with Moorhead friends Ina and Jerry.
Florence was artistic—she wrote poems and participated in skits at work and church and assisted her daughters in making Valentine’s Day boxes, birthday cakes and costumes. She enjoyed playing cards with family and the church Card Club group. She and son-in-law, Jay, took on daughters at Hand and Foot and Pinochle. She enjoyed 300 large piece jigsaw puzzles and word find searches. She liked to bake and made sure to have O’Henry bars on hand for son-in-law, Jay, and other treats for the grandkids.
Although she had many health challenges, she was a real trooper; she did her best to keep active. Even at 93, she walked an hour a day around the dining area and helped empty the dishwasher of clean dishes and, on occasion, dirty by mistake, and assisted with laundry and dusting.
A faithful servant of God, Florence read devotional books during the night when she awoke and had a Rolodex of scripture verses received from Janis that she read daily. She was an avid reader of Love Inspired books with a faith message. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by two daughters, Tammy Larson, Moorhead, and Terry (Jay) Titus, Fargo; two grandchildren, Dain Titus, Fargo, and Marissa (Nick) Kemper, Moorhead; great grandson, Walker Kemper; sister, Goldie Hansen; and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings Herman Haugtvedt, Inez Braton, Vernie Haugtvedt, Violet Wolf, Norma Helm, and Harland Haugtvedt.
