Florence C. Maas, 85 Florence C. Maas longtime resident of Medford died Tuesday, October 2, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Mass of Christian Burial is set for Monday, October 7, 2013 at 10:30 am at Christ the King Catholic Church in Medford with Rev. Edward Mountain presiding. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Faribault. Friends may greet the family on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 form 3:00 – 7:00 pm at the Medford Funeral Home (310 – East Central Ave.) The Medford court of the Catholic Daughters of America will recite the Rosary at 3:00 pm at the funeral home on Sunday. The visitation will continue on Monday at the Medford Funeral home form 9:30 am until 10:15 am followed by a procession to the church for the funeral liturgy. Florence was born on June 30, 1928 in Faribault, MN the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Hanley) Sammon. She graduated from Bethlehem Academy in 1946. Florence was united in marriage to Albert Maas on October 4, 1952 at Immaculate Conception Church in Faribault. Florence was a homemaker for all of her life raising five children. She was a member of Christ the King Church in Medford, Catholic Daughters of America, Medford Homemakers Club, Winona Council of Catholic Women, Eagles and V.F.W Auxiliary. Florence was also involved with the Monday Mission Quilting at Christ the King Church. She enjoyed following the Minnesota Twins, knitting, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Florence is survived by 5 children. Terry (Karen) Maas of New Prague, Diane Dembosky of St. Louis Park, Sheryl (Rick) Petersburg of Lakeville, Karen (Jeff) Brown of Faribault and Kris Maas of St. Paul. Seven Grandchildren, Brandon Olson, Troy Maas, Jerid Brown, Tracy Wetzel, Stephanie Olson, Jake Petersburg, and Matt Dembosky, and four great grandchildren, Cade Maas, Tyler Maas, Brielle Wetzel, and Logan Camerer. Florence is also survived by four sisters Theresa VanZuilen, West Concord, Genevieve (Homer) Guimond, Shakopee, Marion (Raymond) Pirkl, Owatonna, Norita Reuvers, Faribault, two brothers Jack Sammon and Raymond (Caroline) Sammon both of Faribault as well as many nieces and nephews. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Albert in 2010. Brothers Myron, George, Charles, Francis, William, Donald and sisters Evelyn and Catherine. In lieu of flowers donations are preferred to Bethlehem Academy in Faribault, Christ the King Scholarship Fund, The American Lung Association or the donor's choice.
