SALEM - Mrs. Florence T. (Beaulieu) Owens, beloved wife of the late Thomas W. Owens, a lifelong resident of Salem, passed away peacefully November 13th, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Alexina Beaulieu. She was raised and educated in Salem. Florence attended the former St. Joseph’s Elementary and St. Joseph's High School in Salem.
After meeting at their best friends’ wedding, Flo & Tom fell in love and Flo introduced Tom to pizza! Flo and Tom raised their five children in Salem. Flo was the quintessential homemaker, she loved cooking and cleaning. She took great pride in caring for her family and anyone else she welcomed into her home. She started holiday cooking months in advance. And she was a tremendous cook and baker! Flo loved her home and lived there for almost 75 years. She truly took great pleasure in decorating for the holiday season.
Flo was truly happiest when surrounded by her family, involved in their many activities and celebrating their many milestones. She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and their many accomplishments and relished the special bond with her granddaughter Nicole. Flo and Tom were a big part of Nicole’s early life. As her much loved grandson, JT said “Grammy was a small lady, but she was a big person and she left a big impression on everyone who loves her”!
Flo loved going to bingo with her best friend, Eleanor Kieran. She looked forward to her Monday night card group, a tradition that lasted for over 40 years. She enjoyed exercising well into her 90’s, even if it was just walker squats. She enjoyed many friendships over the years and she will forever be remembered for her love of family and deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was a member of the St. James’ Woman’s Guild and worked at their Bingo for many years, she also enjoyed baking for the holiday fair. She was an active communicant and participant of St James Church in Salem. She was lovingly cared for at home by her daughter Gail.
Surviving Flo are her children, Gail Owens of Salem, Paula Dowd and her husband, Jerry of Yarmouthport, MA and Thomas Bruce Owens and his wife, Ann of Sutton, MA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Nicole Penta and her husband, Rich of Peabody, J.T. Dowd and his wife, Julie of Yarmouthport, Grace and Olivia Owens of Sutton and great-grandmother of Andy Dowd and Emily and Evan Penta.
She was predeceased by her sons, Brian and Wayne, whom she deeply missed. They are together at last. Brian is Nicole’s father. She was also predeceased by her brothers Lucian and Bertram Beaulieu. She has a sister, Lorraine Marconi.
