Florence Elizabeth Ward

Mrs. Florence Elizabeth "Betty" Mills Ward, age 89, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025.

Betty was born in Montgomery, Alabama, on June 13, 1935, daughter of the late Turner Clint Mills, Sr. and the late Florence Ellen Rhodes Mills. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Thomas Ward; son, Mark Thomas Ward; grandson, Eric Joseph Grant, Sr.; bonus grandson, Anthony Ward; and brother, Charles Vernard Mills (Lina Lee). Betty was a graduate of Autauga County High School in Prattville, Alabama. She retired from Walkers Garden Center as a bookkeeper. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend, and she will be missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Denise Ward Varde, and Sherry Payne (Jeff); brother, Turner Clint Mills, Jr. (Myrtice); sister, Debbie Cook; grandchildren, Micah Harvel (Steve); Casey Roberson, Logan Ward, Anna Bowen (Jason), Caleb Ward (Katie); several great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with Pastor Larry Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 12:00pm until 1:45pm.
