Florence Catherine Williams

1927 - 2023

Florence Catherine (Cunningham) Williams, age 96, of Oscoda, formerly of Saginaw, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, Oct. 27, 2023 at Oscoda Fields Assisted Living.
She was born on March 26, 1927 in Saginaw to the late Miles and Lena (Zinser) Cunningham. Florence graduated from High School in Saginaw and went on to attend Beauty School, working as a beautician for many years.
She married John Williams in July of 1948. Together, they traveled to New Mexico, Alaska, Oklahoma, Tripoli, Libya and finally Michigan while John served in the Air Force. Florence was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother, who cherished raising her family.
After John's death in 1975, Florence began working at Oscoda Area Schools as the "lunch lady." Those years working at the school held so many fond memories for her as she fed and cared for the children in the community.
Florence enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, attending church and most importantly, spending time with her family. She was a member of Oscoda United Methodist Church, where she spent many years volunteering and serving.
Florence is survived by her loving children, Linda (Douglas) Lee, David (LuAnn) Williams and Mark (Tammy) Williams; sister-in-law, Shirley Cunningham; grandchildren, Kristeena (Ed) Gray, Jamie Schott, Brooke (Matt) Link, Jannson Bartusiak, Casee Williams, and Tara Williams; great grandchildren, Heather (Michael) Zoephel, Sophie Chow, Holland Gray, Samantha (Ben) Schott, Jake (Brielle) Schott, David (Emilee) Williams, Richard Schott, Jay Keni, Paige Masse, Jaelyn, Micah and Gio Bartusiak and Madison and Taylor Williams; nieces, Susy, Sally, Lori, Debbi, Kim, Rosanne; nephews, Frank, Billy and Dennis and all of her second family at Oscoda Fields.
In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, John Williams; brothers, Glen Cunningham and George (Donna) Cunningham; and sisters, Charlene (Russ) Erickson and Lorraine (Frank) Morrison.
A funeral service was held on Monday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. at Oscoda United Methodist Church. Interment took place following the funeral in Oscoda Pinecrest Cemetery.
