Florentino Polanco AKA “Polanco”, 79, of Astoria, New York, passed away on November 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Polanco was born October 18, 1945, in the Dominican Republic, the son of Parents’ Andres Polanco and Dominga Valera.
Polanco married Josefina Polanco Rosas on November 20, 1975, in New York City. They enjoyed many memories throughout their 49 years of marriage. Polanco worked as a Bus Driver for the New York City Public School Systems. He was also an entrepreneur and owned his own cab service and grocery store.
Polanco especially loved listening to music, Fishing and being outdoors planting and enjoying nature. He was a Jack of all trades and could fix anything you brought his way! If you got stuck on something, no worries, Polanco knew exactly what needed to be done and how to get it done. Polanco loved his homeland of Dominican Republic and enjoyed spending months there along with his many trips to Mexico.
Remaining to cherish Polanco’s memory are spouse, Josefina Polanco Rosas; children, Ermy Polanco and Wanda Gomez; grandchildren, Exavier, Brianna, Daniel, Angelina, Juliette and Andrew; sisters, Ramona and Mercedes. Especially loved by his daughter in law Michelle Polanco and son in law Julian Gomez.

Florentino Polanco, también conocido como “Polanco”, de 79 años, de Astoria, Nueva York, falleció el 12 de noviembre de 2024, rodeado de su amada familia. Polanco nació el 18 de octubre de 1945, en la República Dominicana, hijo de sus padres, Andrés Polanco y Dominga Valera.
Polanco se casó con Josefina Polanco Rosas el 20 de noviembre de 1975, en la ciudad de Nueva York. Disfrutaron de muchos recuerdos a lo largo de sus 49 años de matrimonio. Polanco trabajó como conductor de autobús para el sistema de escuelas públicas de la ciudad de Nueva York. También fue empresario y tenía su propio servicio de taxis y una bodega.
A Polanco le encantaba especialmente escuchar música, pescar y estar al aire libre, plantar y disfrutar de la naturaleza. ¡Era un gran mecánico y podía arreglar cualquier cosa que le trajeras! Si te quedabas atascado en algo, no te preocupabas, Polanco sabía exactamente lo que había que hacer y cómo hacerlo. Polanco amaba su tierra natal, República Dominicana, y disfrutaba pasar meses allí junto con sus numerosos viajes a México.
Quedan para apreciar la memoria de Polanco su esposa, Josefina Polanco Rosas; hijos, Ermy Polanco y Wanda Gómez; nietos, Exavier, Brianna, Daniel, Angelina, Juliette y Andrew; hermanas, Ramona y Mercedes. Especialmente querido por su nuera Michelle Polanco y su yerno Julián Gómez.
