Florita Du Breuil

Florita Du Breuil, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at Morningside House in Ellicott City, Maryland, at the age of 86. She was born on May 8, 1939, to the late Arcadio Hernandez and Engracia Bello in Camaguey, Cuba. She came to the United States in 1967 disguised as a nun to escape the Cuban regime. She initially settled in Paterson, NJ where she worked tirelessly to bring 3 of her siblings to the United States. She met the late Jorge Du Breuil, and the two married in 1969, had their daughter Dianne in 1971 and they shared thirty-three wonderful years together before his passing in 2003.

Florita loved children, teaching and nurturing came naturally to her. In Cuba she was a teacher, and when she eventually relocated to Maryland, she opened her own daycare out of her home lovingly caring for over fifty children. She loved her job, the children, and was following her God given calling. It was when her daughter Dianne and son in law Antonio had children, making her a grandmother, that she retired from being a daycare provider to spend more time with her grandchildren. She continuously helped her family in Cuba and spoiling her four-legged companion Luigi until he passed in 2024. She was very faithful and enjoyed attending services when she could at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Eldersburg.

In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her six siblings. She is survived by her loving daughter and son in law, Dianne and Antonio Delgado of Eldersburg, her cherished grandchildren Jacqueline Delgado (Florida), and AJ Delgado (Eldersburg). She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 10 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Eldersburg, Maryland. An interment will follow at The Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring MD 20906.
