Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tom M. Wages Funeral Service - Snellville on Jan. 28, 2026.
Florito Alvarado Rumaguera, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, at 8:26am, surrounded by love and prayer. His life was a testament to humility, dedication, and quiet strength-values he lived by daily and lovingly passed on to his family.
He was born on November 25, 1948, in Boljoon, Cebu, Philippines, to his beloved parents, Eladio and Marcellina Rumaguera. He later pursued his education in Cebu City. Guided by his deep love for family, he chose for a time to be a stay-at-home father, proudly embracing the role of raising his daughter and shaping her character through patience, example, and unconditional love.
He later worked as a radio operator until 1989, when he reunited with his beloved wife in Texas, beginning a new chapter in their life together. He was an accomplished bowler who won multiple awards, a pastime he greatly enjoyed. He also loved playing the piano and singing karaoke-especially his favorite Elvis songs, which brought joy to those around him.
In 1993, he reunited with his only daughter and once again became a stay-at-home father. For over four years, he patiently nurtured and guided her, teaching perseverance, humility, and the importance of never giving up. In 1997, he began working in the hospitality industry at a hotel, where his strong work ethic, kindness, and reliability earned him the honor of Employee of the Month multiple times-a reflection of the respect he showed to everyone he encountered.
He shared nearly 50 years of marriage with his wife, Cirila "Zeenie", a partnership rooted in faith, loyalty, and devotion. Together, they built a home filled with love not only for their family, but also for their nine beloved dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Cirila (Zeenie); his daughter, Ritzeen, whom he lovingly taught how to drive, how to live humbly, and how to move through life with integrity; and his granddaughter, Malaya, whom he guided with gentle lessons-teaching her independence through small daily tasks and reminding her always to carry a big heart and care deeply for others.
As one of the oldest of 10 siblings, he was a steady and grounding presence within his family. He was preceded in death by his siblings Elizabetho, Rosita, Lydia, and Agerico. He is lovingly remembered by his surviving siblings Persevina, Pompeia, Herminia, Virginia, and his youngest brother, Teofanes, as well as by his many nieces and nephews. In recent years, he was especially grateful to reconnect with his niece, Mary Grace-the only child of his youngest brother-a reunion that brought him comfort and peace.
He will be remembered for his quiet wisdom, steady hands, faithful heart, and unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy lives on through the values he instilled, the love he gave freely, and the lives he touched.
"Behold, I see the heavens opened."
