Floritta Morris

Born on February 2, 1940, in Chilesville, Boley, Oklahoma, Floritta was the fifth child of Mary (Normand) and Clarence Conway Sr. She earned her heavenly wings on February 21, 2025. Floritta completed her education in the Boley school system before attending Langston University, where she met the love of her life, Frank D. Morris Jr. They married and later moved to Chicago with their first two children, Frank and Angela, eventually welcoming two more, Steven and Andreah. Their union lasted 60 years until Frank's passing. Throughout her life, Floritta held various jobs, including working as a graphic arts designer for PM Magazine in Chicago. However, her most cherished role was as a devoted childcare provider for all her "Morris Kids" and a dedicated volunteer at CICS Avalon Charter School. She helped raise countless children, embracing each as her own. A woman of impeccable style, Floritta had a passion for fashion, shopping, and design. Whether decorating a home or embellishing a t-shirt, she believed a little bedazzling could make anything shine. As the family matriarch and resident genealogist, she took great pride in preserving her family's legacy. Floritta was deeply involved in several organizations, including: • Past Worthy Matron, Hiram Chapter #14, Order of the Eastern Star (PHA) • Past Most Ancient Matron, Pride of Monarch #84, Heroines of Jericho (PHA) • Member, Royal Rahab Court #61 (PHA) • Member, Daughters of Isis, Arabic Court #21 (A.E.A.O.N.M.S., PHA) • Member, Loyal Ladies Circle of Perfection (PHA) She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mary Conway; her siblings Jesse, Vernita, Verlene, Clarence Jr., and Elma; and her beloved husband, Frank Morris Jr. Floritta's legacy lives on through her loving family: her siblings, Alma (Alfred) Fletcher and Julius Sr. (Monique) Conway; her children, Frank III (Ceretta) Morris, Angela Francis, Steven Sr. (LaShaunda) Morris, Andreah (Jerred) McLeain, and daughter-in-law Tera Morris; her grandchildren, Amanda (Justin) Halls, Morgan (Shannon) Copeland, Riyan Francis, Atlas Maisonneuve, Steven Morris Jr., Zoë Reign Morris, Christian Morris, and Trent Nelson; and her great-grandchildren, Luna, Austin, and Jackson. She also leaves behind a host of family, godchildren, and dear friends. Seldom do we encounter a soul as radiant as Floritta Morris, whose presence left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
