Floyd Drew Obituary
Sunapee, NH: Floyd A. Drew, 82, passed away peacefully at the Jack Byrne Center at Dartmouth on August 3, 2024. He was born on July 9, 1942, in Newport, NH to the late Fred and Lucia (Plummer) Drew.
Floyd attended Newport High School and then spent many years as a salesman selling hardware and plumbing. He worked for Chase and Avery's selling cars. He and Dick Armstrong ran Floyd and Dick's Bait Shop in Sunapee. He also worked as a courier for Sugar River Bank, which he loved and was always accompanied by Curley his side kick. Curley would always go in to get his treats from the bank staff who loved him dearly. Lastly, he worked for Lavalley's as a kitchen designer for 18 years. Floyd was hardworking and always active. He enjoyed snowmobiling and family trips to Pittsburg. He loved bowling, which he did for more than 50 years.
Floyd married Alona Rollins and they were married for 62 years. Floyd was always there for his children and grandchildren. He and Alona liked travelling to Maine and taking trips out west.
Floyd was predeceased by his parents, aunts, and a brother, Roland Drew.
Surviving family members include his loving wife, Alona (Rollins) Drew of Sunapee; children, Brent Drew and his wife, Nadine, of Sunapee, Scott Drew of Croydon, and Karen Drew of Bennington; grandchildren, Scott Drew, Jr. and wife Kellie, Ashley Drew and partner, Denise Freitas, Justin Drew and wife Carlee Mooney, Michael Drew and wife Brooke, and Kevin Drew, nicknamed "Charlie the Tuna"; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Ryan, Kaiya, Griffin, and Chloe; many extended family members; and his great dog, Curley.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday August 14, 2024, from 5 - 7 PM at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport. A graveside service will be held the next day at 11AM at Pine Grove Cemetery in Newport with a reception to follow at the Croydon Fire Station, 828 NH-10, Croydon, NH.
