Floyd Garletts Obituary

Floyd Allen Garletts Jr., age 78, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol Garletts (nee Smith); children: Floyd Allen (Jaclyn) Garletts III, Alicia Dawn (Marshall) Criswell; 3 grandchildren: Devin, Ava, Aiden; and grandpuppy, Lewis; siblings: Donald (Jeannie) Garletts, Rebecca (Harold) DeMass, Regina Leuca, Kim (Greg) Shawn; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd and Nancy Garletts; and stepmother, V. Joyce Garletts.
Floyd was born October 22, 1946 in Gary, IN. He was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School, Class of 1964, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from Purdue University in 1974. Floyd served his country in the U.S. Air Force where he was a Staff Sergeant and Crew Chief of a C-130. He worked as a supervisor in the steel industry for over 30 years before retiring on January 1, 2013.
Floyd loved flying and had his private pilot license. He was an expert skier, enjoying both snow and water skiing. He was an avid golfer who even hit a hole-in-one. His interests also included classic cars and automobile mechanics, as well as everything about outer space. Floyd enjoyed helping everyone around him and spending time with friends and family, especially his grandkids. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 3:00 pm to 7:00pm.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, April 28, 2025 at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Floyd's name to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and/or the Alzheimer's Association.
