Floyd was one of my role models as a member of The Gideons International , as well as being a long-time fellow member of the First Baptist Church of Midland adult choir. He held a distinction of being one of the longest-serving members of our choir. When traveling together as Gideons , he was fond of mind games to pass the time, such as naming a US city, where the next person was required to name a city beginning with the last letter of that previously-named city. On one such trip on the road back to Midland, I was distracted by the game and missed our turnoff to come in on the west side of town, and wound up going on and coming in on the east side of town. One of his favorite pastimes when he lived in Midland, Tx was to feed the semi-tame turtles in his back yard. When he stopped driving and gave up his Buick Park Avenue, I wanted his spare tire, which was a size hard to find. But he got rid of it so quickly I did not have a chance to retrieve it. He is well known in the fraternity of independent geologists in this area.
