Floyd "Doc" Eldon Holliday IIIMarch 24, 1946 – October 28, 2025
Floyd "Doc" Eldon Holliday III of Berthoud, Colorado, decided on October 28, 2025, that he'd done enough work, storytelling, and tinkering for one lifetime. He passed peacefully at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland - though, if we're being honest, he's probably still a little irritated about missing hunting season.
Born on March 24, 1946, in Muscatine, Iowa, to Floyd E. Holliday II and Betty (Royer) Holliday, Doc grew up with strong Midwestern roots and a mischievous grin that promised both trouble and laughter. He learned early on the value of hard work, good humor, and the fine art of doing things his way.
Doc spent most of his career as a journeyman electrician with IBEW Local 68, where he built, fixed, and occasionally shocked (literally and figuratively) those around him. His work lit up buildings across Colorado, and his stories lit up every breakroom he ever stepped into.
On January 9, 1995, Doc married Joyce (Shultz) Holliday, who somehow managed to keep up with him for over three decades. Together they built a home filled with laughter, warmth, and the occasional good-natured debate about having too many animals.
Doc was the proud father of Floyd (Doc) Holliday IV and wife Sherri, Donella Ozbun, John Holliday and wife Kelly, Matthew Holliday, and Josh Linhardt and wife Ashley. Between them, they blessed him with a lively bunch of grandkids - Wyatt, Marshal, David, Josie, Madison, Paisley, Amaya, Cora, and Everett. He also leaves behind his sister Connee Holliday and niece Tamara.
Doc was preceded in death by his parents, who are likely welcoming him home with open arms.
When Doc wasn't working or cracking jokes, he was happiest outdoors, preferably with a rifle in hand and a good hunting buddy by his side. He loved the crisp air, the quiet of the woods, and the thrill of the chase - though we suspect he's shaking his head right now, muttering, "Really? Couldn't this have waited until after elk season?"
Those who knew Doc will remember him for his quick wit, his generous heart, and his ability to make anyone feel like family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, 10:00 am, at Calvary Chapel Berthoud, where stories, laughter, and probably a few hunting jokes will be shared in his honor.
Doc lived a life that was full - of work, of laughter, and of love. Though his tools are finally hung up and his hunting tags left unfilled, his light - fittingly - will never go out.
