Floyd D. Parris
Sylva - Floyd Dean Parris went home to be with his Lord Sunday, November 24, 2024 after a brief illness at the age of 77. Born on November 18, 1947 in Jackson County to John Ray Parris and Janie Ensley Parris.
Floyd loved his family and his friends and he loved all children. Children just took to him his entire life. He was a papaw to many. Floyd loved the Lord and he loved to worship with his church family at Old Savannah Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and ginseng digging.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Douglas Eugene Parris, a granddaughter, Brooke Parris, a brother, Truman Parris and a step daughter, Laura Bryson Biddix.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Judy Bryson Parris, one son, Johnny Dale Parris (Genia), one sister, Peggy Parris Stepp (Carl), a special great grandson, Ryko who lived in the home, his step mother, Mildred Parris, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, step granddaughters, and four step great grandchildren. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 2pm at Old Savannah Baptist Church with the Reverend Austin Frady and Reverend Eddie Stillwell officiating. Burial will be at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday evening November 26, 2024 at Appalachian Funeral Services of Sylva.
Pall Bearers will be Ethan Stepp, Jason Gregory, Logan McClure, Bill McGaha, Jason Parris, Joe Martin, and Greg Freeman.
