Floyd Walter Reeves, of Auburn, NE, passed away peacefully September 18, 2025, at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, NE.

Floyd was born on August 26, 1934, on a farm near Table Rock, NE to Walter and Nellie (Parker) Reeves. Floyd was born 7th out of 11 children. His family moved to the Peru, Ne area, where he grew up and attended Honey Creek School. Floyd was drafted into the Army where he served a stint in Germany during the late 1950’s.

Floyd was joined in marriage to Shirley Philpot Turner, on November 22, 1957. To this union three children were born: Kathleen, Kristen and Kurt (born at rest). Floyd was a dedicated husband, father and papa. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their events. Floyd attended the Auburn Christian Church.

Floyd’s hobbies included hunting, collecting guns, and gardening. He was an active member of the Garden Club for several years. He also enjoyed training his many hunting dogs over the years. He had a passion for playing cards and always looked forward to playing cards at the Senior Centers in Nehawka and Auburn as well as at home with Shirley and friends. Floyd was very social and enjoyed going to auctions, fish frys and other social events. Floyd was a farm hand in the early years, then worked at Continental Grain in Brownville, lastly working at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville until retirement. He was well known for his sense of humor, pranks, and funny sayings, which will all be greatly missed.

After moving from his home, Floyd lived at Longs Creek Assisted Living for 2 years, then Good Samaritan Home for 6 months before entering hospice after a long hospitalization and illness in March of this year.

Floyd leaves behind daughters and sons-in-law Kathleen (Jeff) Jones, of Auburn and Kristen (Patrick) Allison of Elkhorn, NE. Along with his beloved grandchildren: Jacelyn and Kacynn Jones and Bryce and Brooklyn Allison, sisters: Panzy Adams and Lula Mae Ruby and sister-in-law: Carol Attebery. Floyd was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Shirley and infant son, Kurt, sisters: Pearl McMann, Beuhlah Williamson, Viva Anderson, Lillian Anderson, Sylvia Hutton and brothers: Delbert Reeves (infant brother), Lloyd Reeves and Clinton Reeves, sister-in-law: Sandra Turner, brothers-in-law: James Turner, Alvin Turner, Wendell Turner and Lester Turner.

A memorial service, officiated by Jackie Gfeller, will be Thursday, September 25, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn, with visitation prior from 11:00am - 1:00pm. Burial will be at Mt Vernon Cemetery in Peru with a reception to follow at the Peru City Hall.

Memorials may be given to the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, NE.
