Floyd Melmon Rogers, 82, of Moravian Falls, passed away Monday, October 13th, 2025 at Yadkin Nursing in Yadkinville, NC. Born February 15th, 1943, he was the son of the late Guy Vernon Rogers and Lucinda Cain Rogers.
Floyd was a gifted writer and craftsperson. For many years, he was a reporter and editor at the Winston-Salem Journal. He also designed and built beautiful furniture and was a talented woodworker. Floyd spent many happy hours camping and canoeing with his young family telling stories of his childhood. He was also a wonderful cook and never needed a recipe to make delicious meals. Later in life he enjoyed refurbishing guns and visiting trade shows. He was a voracious reader and loved historical nonfiction and thrillers and mysteries. He was a thoughtful man who was curious about the world and always had a unique perspective.
Floyd is survived by his daughter, Lindsay Rogers (Jonathan Jackson) of Hickory; a son, Nathaniel Rogers (Liz Greene) of Hillsborough; sisters, Joyce Bullis of Moravian Falls and Mildred Edmisten of Moravian Falls; brother, Clyde Rogers of Moravian Falls; three grandchildren, Clara Jackson, Olivia Rogers, and Eli Rogers; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his ex-wife Cindy Rogers, his sister Charlotte Brookshire, his brother David Rogers, and brothers-in-law Ralph Bullis and Wayne Edmisten.
