Obituary of Floyd Short
Floyd Short, a long time resident of Middleton, Idaho, left this earthly existence and taken to his heavenly home June 3rd while surrounded by loved ones.
Floyd was born April 25th 1943 in Tracy City, Tennesse to parents Raymond and Florence Short. He was the youngest of 11 children. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lenore also of Middleton and his children Russell (Marni) of Gilbert, AZ, Wendy AhYou (Troy) of Middleton, and Marty (Michelle) of Meridian. Also his grand children Dallin, Brady, Collin, and Baylee (Russell & Marni). Braxton, Payton, Miki, and Quini (Wendy). Kaiden and Lexi (Marty & Michelle). His great grand children Bentley and Brooks (Dallin), Graham, Ella and Maddox (Braxton). He is preceeded in death by his parents Raymond and Florence and his siblings Louise, Raymond, Pauline, John, Harvey, Horace, Elizabeth, Joe, Nellie, and Nelline.
He lived in Georgia and Tennessee until he moved to Aberdeen, Idaho in the mid 60's. He worked for farmers changing pipe and hauling hay. While cruising around town in his 2 door chevy hardtop, he found his soulmate Lenore. They had many Saturday night dates dancing and meeting with friends at the teen age hangout called the sweet shop. They were married Feburary 19, 1966 in Rockland, Idaho. They lived in American Falls until he was drafted into the Army and served a tour in Vietnam. After being honorably discharged, they moved to Arizona for about 6 years. While living in Arizona, Floyd became a memeber of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and remainded a faithful member for the rest of his life. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Also while in Arizona he developed a passion for beekeeping and after scouting several areas, they decided that Idaho would be the best place pursue his love for beekeeping and raise a family.
Floyd was a devoted husband, father, grand father, and great grand father. He was patriotic and loyal to his country. He worked at Power Apiares in Parma, ID as a beekeeper and was a long time employee of Darigold Creamery in Caldwell, ID. Floyd was always on the go and never wanted to retire. He spent his later years of employment working with his son Marty in the building industry and at Middleton School District and Forge International as a custodian. He was loved by all of the students at the school and he loved them. The highlight of his day was giving and getting hugs. A quote from a friend "he wasn't afraid of all the hugs because for some that was the only hug or love they would ever get." He was an active member of the booster club and an original member of the Middleton High School football Chain Gang for over 20 years. In 2012, he was selected to be the Grand Marshall of the Middleton 4th of July parade; where the kids threw him candy.
In his spare time, he loved playing golf, bowling, family games (he never turned down a game of rummy with his daughter Wendy). Floyd took pride in his garden, that was filled with an abundance of tomatoes. Those tomatoes transformed into canned salsa, tomato juice, and spaghetti sauce. He loved working outside, and was passionate about his lawn. Most Friday and Saturday mornings you would find him at a yard sale. He never missed children or grandchildren's sports activities.
Floyd was a kind, loving man and a positive force for good and loved by all who knew him.
A viewing will be held on Friday June 9th from 5-7pm at Flahiff Funeral Chapel 624 Clevland Blvd, Caldwell, ID. Services will be Saturday June 10th with a brief viewing at 10:00am, funeral service at 11:00am at the LDS meeting house 309 W. Main St., Middleton, ID. Graveside service to follow at the Middleton Cemetary 23660 Cemetary Rd., Middleton, ID.
