Forrest William "Bill" Ferry Sr., 80, of Oakland, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022. Born on November 21, 1941, in Newark, OH, he was the son of the late Rowena (Caughenbaugh) Barrett.
Bill served as chief deputy of the Garrett County Sheriff's Department. He was then hired as the Criminal Investigator for the Garrett County States Attorney's Office. He was a member of the Kitzmiller Lions Club, The American Legion, Founding Member of the Garrett County Chapter of Trout Unlimited and served on the first Board of Directors for Cindy's Fund. He was also an avid fisherman and fly-tier.
He is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Paugh and husband Jay, and Tracy Wright and husband Shawn Groves; a son, Billy Ferry and wife Tina; five grandchildren, Kaylin Paugh, Heather Paugh, Jenna Mullenax, Miranda Wright and Grace Groves; three great grandchildren, Ava Paugh, Raelynn and Allison Mullenax; two sisters, Dianna Saunders and husband Peter, and Cindy Peck; a brother, Keith Ferry; four step brothers, Wade Barrett and wife Michelle, Greg Barrett and wife Julie, Kevin Barrett and wife Melissa, and Michael Barrett; mother-in-law, Betty Kimble; a brother-in-law, Jack Kimble and wife Debbie; and one sister-in-law, Mary "Sis" Glotfelty.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death his wife, Nancy (Kimble) Ferry; a brother, James "Gimp" Ferry; and three brothers-in-law, Robert Kimble, Larry Glotfelty and Michael Peck.
A private family service was held with Rev. Dr. Matthew Paugh officiating.
A public memorial service will be held at a later date.
The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland is honored to be serving the Ferry family at this time.
