He was born February 18, 1943 in Braxton County.

Forrest was preceded in death by his loving wife, Violet M. James of 59 years, along with his parents Okey James and Marie Friend James; and sister, Linda Singleton.

He was a hard worker that provided well for his family and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors. He had a passion and joy for gardening. He belonged to the Laborers Local 1353 during the construction of I-79. For over 40 years he worked for Kenton Meadows, Inc. He considered the Meadows family and staff like family and he truly enjoyed his time working there.
