Funeral service for Mrs. Frances Kay Acker will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023, at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Harris Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 at the church.
Mrs. Frances Kay Walker was born on December 9, 1956, to her parents Waymon Walker and Sybil Reeves. She passed this life on August 25, 2023, in Longview. Mrs. Acker was the only girl out of four children born to her parents. She was raised and went to school in Logansport and she graduated with the class of 1974. She met and married Gary Acker on June 25, 1984, and they celebrated over 39 years together. She was a member of the Flatwoods Volunteer Fire Dept and served as a reporter. She was a member of the Galloway Methodist Church where she was on the praise team. She absolutely loved to grow flowers and make arrangements with them and give to people.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Acker; brothers, Harold Walker, Dale Hill, and Doyle and Della Hill; grandchildren, Shelby Reed and husband Casey, Miranda Katelynn and husband Ty Bryer, Talitha Acker, and Rhylan Acker,; great-grandchild. Elizabeth Bryer.
Sister in laws, Wendy Harsin and husband Mike, Polly Maines, and Diane Acker, brother-in-law, Tracy Acker and wife Kelly.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her children, Dewayne Acker, and Lisa Brinkman; brother in laws, Bruce Maines, and Scott Acker.
Serving as pallbearers will be Vernon Walker, Keith Creech, Kenny Walker, Tracy Acker, Travis Walker and Rodney Walker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Stone, Dare Rix Parker, Jimmy Long, Jerry Wayne Harrison, Hayden Ezernack.
