Frances I. Barrett

September 11, 1931 – October 23,2025

Frances Barrett, 94, passed away peacefully in her home of more than 50 years on October 23, 2025.

Frances was born to Homer and Dorothy (Smith) Bristol in Valentine, Nebraska on September 11, 1931. She spent much of her childhood in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She moved with her family to Fort Morgan Colorado, graduating from high school there in 1949. She met Lavern Barrett in class at Fort Morgan High School. They were married in 1953 in Loveland, Colorado, and settled there after his service in the Third Marine Division. In addition to working for First National Bank in Loveland for 40 years, she did the bookkeeping for Barrett's Service Center, Lavern's business.

She was a longtime member of Mountain View Presbyterian Church and worked in the church office after her retirement from the bank.

Frances and Lavern raised three children, Mike, Kathy, and Darin, in Loveland. She enjoyed gardening, meeting with friends for coffee, caring for her home, swimnastics classes, and reading romance novels. Her home was the center of holiday celebrations. She and Lavern took the family camping and went on many road trips. She travelled to Europe and to her granddaughters' homes in southern California and Seattle. She rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Lavern, in 1996, her grandson Connor in 2020, her oldest son Mike in 2023; and all but one of her nine siblings. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Bonnie Barrett of Hyder, Alaska; daughter Kathleen of Longmont; son Darin of Loveland, grandchildren Nick Wilbanks, Alison (Barrett) Wilson, Kirsten (Dusenbery) Sullivan, Lindy Dusenbery, and Meredith Dusenbery. Frances had six great grandchildren, Cameron and Melania Wilbanks, Starlight Wilson, and Adelaide, Margaret, and Benedict Sullivan. Other surviving friends and family, including her brother-in-law Gene Barrett, sister- in-law Margie Bristol, and many nieces and nephews, will also miss her.

In accordance with Frances' wishes, there will be a Gathering to remember her Friday, November 14th from 1:00 until 3:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 2500 N Garfield Avenue, Loveland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Frances' name to House of Neighborly Service in Loveland.
