Frances Belcher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jakubs-Waite Funeral Home on Jan. 17, 2026.
Frances "Fay" Belcher February 16, 1928 – January 15, 2026
Frances "Fay" Belcher, age 97, of Eastlake, OH passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 15, 2026, in Beachwood, OH.
Born on February 16, 1928, in Cleveland, Ohio, Fay was the daughter of Anthony Zaller and Frances (Lavrich) Zaller. She grew up in a closeknit Slovenian family and carried those traditions of faith, hospitality, and joyful living throughout her life. She was a longtime resident of Wickliffe, OH, before having a home built on "the Lot" in Eastlake and making it her home in 1983. She continued living there independently for many years after her husband's passing, up until the last few weeks of her life.
Fay retired from the Ohio Bell Telephone Company after 19 years of dedicated service. She was admired for her strong work ethic, her kindness toward coworkers, and her ability to brighten even the busiest days with her warm smile.
A woman of deep faith, Fay was known for her unwavering positivity and her gift for making everyone around her feel welcome and at ease.
Some of her fondest memories were of the parties and dances she enjoyed with friends at the YMCA before marrying the love of her life, Frank-her "Mr. Right." She often said she never regretted marrying later because of all the fun she had, and she regularly spoke about how blessed she was to have the best parents, husband, and son. She created many more treasured memories at her beloved Chagrin River property, hosting long summer days of cookouts, boating, water skiing, fishing, and swimming-gatherings that began before the home was built and continued for many years after. Her natural warmth and love of bringing people together made those moments unforgettable.
Music was another source of joy in her life, especially the lively polkas she grew up with. Even in her final days, those familiar melodies brought her comfort and lifted her spirits.
Fay was the beloved wife of the late Frank D. Belcher; loving mother of Tom (Patty Morgan) Belcher; cherished grandmother of Megan and Shannon; devoted sister of Alice Kufrin, Robert Zaller, and the late Raymond Zaller; and a beloved aunt to a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and their children. She will be remembered with deep affection by her extended family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a true angel here on earth who blessed everyone with her presence.
Her legacy is one of joy, resilience, faith, and love-a life beautifully lived and deeply treasured. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Frances, please visit our floral store.

So sorry to hear of Fay's passing. She was such a joy to be with. I brought her Communion when I was at St. John Vianney parish. We would sit and talk and laugh for hours. I know she is happy to be with her Frank again. God rest her soul and grant her peace.
