Frances Elizabeth Byrne

Frances Elizabeth Byrne (née Alison), age 70, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 21st, 2025. She was the wife of Edward Byrne and mother to four children.

Frances devoted most of her life to her family and home, tending to the many details that shaped her family's everyday world. She always made sure that the life of her family of six functioned with care, steadiness, and love. Frances was an avid reader who read widely and often, and through her example, encouraged a love of books in her family. Early in her life, she fell in love with horseback riding and the beach. She was a passionate gardener; she cherished working in her garden and sharing its beauty. She was enchanted by all things Disney, finding amusement and joy in its stories, characters, and parks. Frances especially enjoyed being a grandmother to her two granddaughters and grandson, for whom she always made sure that holidays, vacations, and birthdays had the perfect mix of joy, food, gifts, and special memories.

She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Edward Byrne; her children, Katherine Ayres (Chris), Edward Byrne, Jennifer Stein (Tad), and William Byrne; and her 3 grandchildren, Brynn, Rylee, and Tad. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Laing Alison.

A wake will be held on Friday, December 26th from 3pm to 7pm at Moritz Funeral Home, 98 Route 303 South, Tappan, NY 10983. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, December 27th, at 10am at St. Catharine of Alexandria Church, 523 Western Highway, Blauvelt, NY 10913. The interment will take place at a future date.
