Frances Marie "Fran" Dorris

Frances "Fran" Marie Dorris, 90, of Independence, Missouri passed away at her home on October 22, 2022. Fran was born in Alton, Missouri to Posey and Missy Booker on November 22, 1931. Later after high school Fran met the love of her life Phillip Dorris, and they were blessed with a son Jeff.
After the passing of her husband Phillip, Fran went on to volunteer at Centerpoint Hospital for 20 years, in fact she was awarded Volunteer of the Year in 2005. She was a wonderful volunteer for the hospital with her outgoing and funny personality, she was always a delight to be around.
Fran was a longtime football and baseball fan. She even played softball throughout her life and loved spending time in the yard playing burnouts with her son Jeff. It was a normal bonding moment for a dad but that was Frans' area of bonding with Jeff. Fran was always an athlete playing golf, bowling, and of course softball. She loved playing cards with family and friends and working on craft projects. Fran loved saving up her vacation and spending the month of September in Daytona Beach, Florida at Perry's Inn.
Fran loved her family and making special dishes. She will always be known by everyone for her famous cheese dip, tuna salad to make sure Jeff was eating healthily since he was a PE teacher, her fried potatoes, and her world-famous cornbread sage dressing. Jeff always wanted to master that dressing, but some things momma just makes better.
Fran is preceded in death by her parents Missy and Posey Booker, husband Phillip S. Dorris, sister Dorothy Lou Smith, brothers Elgan and Herbert Booker. She is survived by her loving son Jeff Dorris, daughter-in-law Melissa Dorris, and devoted granddaughter Kim Knight. Fran will be fondly remembered by many other family and friends who will miss her energetic personality.
